The story

Growing up in my hometown, I saw firsthand how difficult it is to access high-quality resources. Academic paywalls during research. Hours spent hunting scattered local literature. The search often felt harder than the actual work.

Information shouldn't be a "know-the-right-person" privilege. It should be a right.
 As a CS student, I wanted to do something tangible for the community I grew up in. That’s why I built Aklatang Galera—a free digital portal designed to centralize opportunities for every Galeran.
 Inside, we have: 🔬 Research: Free access to global scholarly databases (like DOAJ and Semantic Scholar) and local repositories (like Archīum Ateneo and Philippine Journal of Science). 💼 Livelihood: A curated section for local jobs, free online courses, and entrepreneurship tools to help our local economy. 📢 Public Services: Direct links to scholarships, government services, and official announcements.

No paywalls, no ads, and no sign-ups. Just open, fast, and organized access to the knowledge and opportunities we deserve.

This project is for the youth of Puerto Galera and for every Filipino who deserves a level playing field. Whether you're a student hunting for a thesis reference or an individual looking for a new career path, this was built for you.

In the end, it is actively used by 100+ students and is now a tool promoted at my previous high school.
