Kalinga
The story
Kalinga was created for Filipino multigrade teachers who manage several grade levels while preparing DepEd-aligned lesson plans, recording attendance, organizing learners, and finding classroom resources. I designed and developed the application end to end using Next.js, React, TypeScript, Supabase, PostgreSQL, and Groq. Its main feature is an editable ILAW lesson-planning workspace where teachers can prepare activities for each grade, organize the classroom teaching sequence, ask Gabay for AI-assisted drafts, and export finished plans as Word documents or print-ready PDFs. Kalinga also includes class and learner management, attendance, shared resources, teacher discussions, notifications, and a guided teaching view. Since internet access may be unreliable, classroom changes are saved locally and queued for synchronization when the connection returns. I presented the prototype to teachers and used their feedback to simplify the interface, reduce repetitive work, and keep teachers in control of every AI-generated suggestion.
